Creating a Scrap Animal

Mechanimals by Chris Tougas is such fun! A farmer loses his animals in a tornado. They are literally lifted up and carried away.

The farmer needs to have animals to run his farm and he has to come up with new animals to populate his farm. The old phrase “When Pigs Fly” gives him an idea as to how to solve his problem.

He uses old scrap metal to create robot animals that will replace the ones that were lost. You will love how he put them together and what they can do.

We created a pig out of scraps at our house too. Some of the scraps came out of our recycling bin and others came from our craft bin.

All the scraps along with glue, a cardboard pig outline and a pair of scissors were set out on the kitchen table for my son to create with.

I love the way he turned out.
