“Diwali ” is coming. As kids, we waited all year long for Diwali. . It’s a festival of lights. On this auspicious day, people light up candles all around their house and enjoy lots of fireworks. People exchange gifts to all near and dear ones. During Diwali kids wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. During Diwali, we decorate the floors with Rangoli – or designs (much like mehendi!).
What you’ll need : Sidewalk chalk , a little design and Tealights. Good weather always helps
Step 1: Make any design with white chalks for your kids.
Step 2: Have them color with sidewalk chalk
Step 3: Complete the rangoli by filling all the color.
Step 4: Decorate the Rangoli with tealights.
Step 5: Its ready.
Doesn’t it look beautiful?? We had the neighbors visiting to look at it the past 2-3 days. The girls of course are so proud of their creation!

“Krishna an invisible friend” by Sishita Chaitanya is a very interesting and true story of Lord Krishna. In this story an invisible friend Krishna helps a poor little boy cross the scary forest. This story , while introducing the Lord Krishna, teaches kids that trusting in God is a good thing.
“No Dinner” by Jessica Souhami is a folk tale from India. This a story of a brave old woman who uses her mind to trick the wild animals to not eat her while visiting her granddaughter’s house. I really liked this story because it teaches kids to not lose their mind when in front of a wild animal but stay calm to deal with the situation.
“Lai-Lai the baby Elephant” by Shekar Dattatri (Tulika Books) is about a baby elephant living in the wild jungle. The baby elephant is very playful and curious, but has to stay close to his mother until he is old enough to be independent.
Tomorrow is our post about some great Indian publishers of today. I am excited about that post too.
