Indoor fun for active kids

by Maya on July 30, 2010

Summer is a hard when it gets too hot outside. Stories, reading, writing are all good but sometimes you just need fun – although you will see there is some learning we secretly snuck into this one as well :)

Have an old rug at home? Have some open space? Here is a simple way to create your own playground for your kids.

1. Find and old rug that you can roll away when not in use or tuck under your own rug like we do. Gather some tape and couple of active kids to help

2. Draw out a hopscotch pattern -make the outline in tape first and mark the rows . Have the kids help with laying tape down across

3. The learning part – have the kids Tape numbers with you.

4. Play!

Serious serious fun. Like super serious fun!

Let us know if you do it and share your
Pictures on our facebook page!

What a great idea! I’ve seen these store-bought hop scotch rugs around and thought they looked like so much fun. I actually have an old rug in the Goodwill pile, so maybe now I’ll keep it after all and make one of these!

I love the activity, and I’m sure the kids will also. It is one that could be used inside or out.
